Speeding ticket

id go to court with it and plead your case. How can the fine you for speeding in a construction zone with no workers in place. Done it and won. Ask about calibration of his equipment also.

Their could be hazardous conditions such as a narrowing of the road. Or many other road issues.

I have to agree except for the Jury part.
One, the judge will already have an issue with him cause it’s costs more and takes up a lot of time.
Two, if juries were impaneled every time the people making the juries would soon just get pissed that they had to miss a day at work...
Three, court costs include everyone involved including the jury....

I have had a few tickets n my driving career. The ones I did’t think I deserved I went to court and beat those. Ones I deserved, I went and asked the judge to reduce the fines and points. In all but one case that worked quite well. That judge did not give me a break, but the officer had already kept it off my CDL. So I still got that break.
Yeah, I'm not saying demand a jury trial, just use their desire to get it settled to your advantage. You do have a right to jury trial so use that leverage.

Although I've seen what they do to people who do demand a jury trial for small stuff. They make them post bond then just push the trial off for years until you eventually give up to get your bond money back.

Most courts treat the request for jury tribal to be like asking for a lawyer after Miranda, you will have to go through the motions for the trail. Can’t look as if they are “bribing” you to plead one way or the other.
It’s a land mine that only a defense lawyer will suggest you step on...

Was he?...(Of course this depends on how much over the speed limit & endangerment if present) but "his" job at many cases is to use common sense. There are circumstances which they should consider especially if the individual has no tickets, a good citizen, etc. Obviously the LEO didn't want to be at work, having a bad day, or etc....but it wasn't the OP's fault in that respect. And by this LEO issuing a ticket without an explanation or companion of any sort, gives the people a bad taste for the whole law enforcement agencies which isn't good for anyone.
For example my wife actually got a ticket for a headlight being out that just went out at the restaurant we ate that evening. And on the journey home less than 10 minutes, and officer didn't want to hear that the light just went out.....that's the common sense factor. Yes, that give me fuel for resentment for the Canton PD.....not worth the $20 ticket to take a half day off work to go to court. But I did talk with the CO on this which he was very pleasant to talk with....but I still had to pay the ticket.

And just to say I do 100% support all our LEOs; they risk their lives daily to protect us!!!......I have (3) law enforcement officers in my family.

I showed up at court for this and they dropped the charges when I demonstrated that I'd fixed the light.
