I changed counties and found them. Hit the woods at 4pm.Best time when they hole up in trees is in evening right before dark.
Old tyme remedy was to train them to fetch pine cones. This year is the most I've seen since we moved here. 3 nice oaks in the back yard dropping acorns by the ton. If My dogs would bring them to me without chewing them first, I'd never have to get off the back porch.
They already chew up enough pine cones to keep me in mulch. 😆Old tyme remedy was to train them to fetch pine cones.
Squirrels are no big deal. The hardest thing about them is skinning the rascals. Then just remember to boil them to make them tender to eat. Otherwise you'll bite and you'll see they taste good, but you can't chew because the meat is too tough. So boil first, then cook as you like. Anybody can hunt squirrel and be successful, no rocket science to a tree ratI would try it, but not many people i know have hunted or eaten them. I ate meatloaf often
Just like corn on a cob to themThey already chew up enough pine cones to keep me in mulch. 😆
Only had one truck be a problem. And I don't know if it was chipmunks or tree rats. It they get too close to the house now, I'll take them out. Had to take several last year, not so bad this year. Spent $4k fixing my old truck, don't want anymore of thatI have seen a lot of fox squirrels. I don’t bother them. But I shoot every gray one I can. I deer hunt here at home and I keep a old 22 in my blind. I’ll shoot them while deer hunting.
Squirrels have damaged my truck, 2 cars, JD tractor, JD Gator and zero turn mower. So the only mercy I have is to put a 2nd 22 in them to finish it off.
They do taste good.
