Squirrel aint bad. I've eaten a bunch. Skinning them is like ripping an old work boot apart.

You need to par-boil them a while, then fry them. I quit shooting fox squirrels due to them getting scarce .Fox sq kinda chewy.
Still chewy as a rooster. I don't shoot them because I'd rather eat a grey. They are getting scarce. The ones left these days are getting as sporty as a grey. They used to be tame as house cats. I believe it's due to increases in hawks and owls. You need to par-boil them a while, then fry them. I quit shooting fox squirrels due to them getting scarce .
I haven't skinned a sq since my oldest turned twelve. I believe skinning is what turned people away from sq hunting same as why everyone claims wild hogs aren't fit to eat. I'd rather skin a deer any day.Squirrel aint bad. I've eaten a bunch. Skinning them is like ripping an old work boot apart.
Young grey is very tender. Some of the older bucks, not so much. Debone, fry and cook down in gravy. Best gravy there is.Squirrels are no big deal. The hardest thing about them is skinning the rascals. Then just remember to boil them to make them tender to eat. Otherwise you'll bite and you'll see they taste good, but you can't chew because the meat is too tough. So boil first, then cook as you like. Anybody can hunt squirrel and be successful, no rocket science to a tree rat
Some of the newer vehicles have soy based wire insulation. Mice love it. You can wrap it in capsaicin laced electrical tape to put them off. I believe it's Honda brand. We got it from Rock Auto.Only had one truck be a problem. And I don't know if it was chipmunks or tree rats. It they get too close to the house now, I'll take them out. Had to take several last year, not so bad this year. Spent $4k fixing my old truck, don't want anymore of that
then chunk um!!!chewy = "poor man's calamari"
skim 'em, split 'em, fry 'em.
