Stupid question about Armadillos

As mentioned, they carry desease, so don’t let the doggies go after them.

I watched several last week really close up. They are a really unique looking critter people have them for pets so I don’t think there’s any leprosy.

Leprosy is carried with blood contact.

I got sick of the two years they ruined my yard so I declared war. I caught 18 between spring and summer and the yard is slowly recovering My son even got me the t shirt

The will eat fire ants. Turned one off my yards into a minefield but all the ants disappeared. I've shot two since I moved. The buzzards won't eat them, ants did...karma.

Confirmed cases have been rare. And nearly all in the US have been related to eating undercooked meat.

But avoiding the blood is never a bad idea. They absolutely can carry the leprosy bacterium in their blood. They are also dirty varmints anyway. So the inside out trash bag idea is a good one and what I've used.

We've had 'em for a few years now. Mostly, live and let live. They occasionally tear up plants in the garden, or a piece of the yard. My dog runs them off, but even she's become somewhat disinterested in them for their lack of speed and evasiveness. They have a quick first burst of speed, but don't see or navigate well. She'll basically herd them off the yard into the woods.
