Suppressed as nightstand defense weapon?

So I was thinking the other day about keeping a 9mm carbine with can as nightstand. I figured why let them hear what was happening? Just let the see drywall fly and get hit by shadows. The bonus is to not hurt my hearing in the process in a closed room with muzzle blast.

Thoughts?

I use my 300blk SBR suppressed as my night stand gun.

I like the capacity and the fact if I did have to use it, its stupid quiet.

The federal security forces that guard/ed the nuke facilities used Colt 9mm ARs to reduce penetration around the reactors.

I know of several small law enforcement agencies that are putting SBRs with cans in every vehicle. Most are going with larger cans to prevent the fireball (especially in the meth houses).

Sounds like a good idea to me!

I cannot imagine shooting a .357mag in my hallway sound-wise. I like the idea of the power but it would be two weeks before your hearing came back.

Not to mention, police show up and you can't hear their questions/commands...

Ive shot my suppressed 9 in a house. Definitely audible. And if you're shooting at someone in your house and you see drywall flying I think you just need to practice more and maybe look in to night sights/weapon light too.

No sense in waking up the wife just for a home invader. Plus it gives you the option of quietly throwing the bodies in the river and avoid all that paperwork.

If it goes to court it would look bad to a jury. There's probably a lot of prosecutors that would look at that as a good reason to take an otherwise straight-forward self-defense case to trial, even in GA.

Better to just hang a pair of electronic muffs on the bedpost. That would actually enhance your hearing and *not* have the press call you 'The Silent Killer" or some other nonsense.

My main concern would be the court battle and the possible civil suit. I'm not sure if the criminals lawyer would construe it as you wanting to be able to murder people as the reason you had a can on your HD gun

I doubt that. Doesn't have to be an issue. I think you could even remove the suppressor while waiting for the cops to show up and you are not "tampering with evidence" because its not materially changing the facts of the case (you shot an intruder with your legal firearm).
