So I swapped out the FSB on my DDM4V3 with a low profile gas block in order to put on a longer rail (Omega X 12.0). This is my first time doing anything like this and I discovered that the barrel actually has a notch cut out of the bottom for the taper pin in the FSB. The low profile gas block does not cover this up, however the rail hides it pretty well but it does bother me that it's there. Is there anything wrong with shooting this rifle like this or should I just put it back on, sell it and get a barrel that is not designed for the FSB?

My google searches didn't really come up with an answer for this.

The notch is just to help keep the FSB in place. As long as the gas port on the barrel and gas block are lined up, you should be alright.

To make sure they are, with the barrel off the upper, Gas block in the correct area; cover the muzzle end with your hand and blow in the chamber end. You'll be able to tell when its lined up right as it will blow back out the gas port easily.

Let me jump in here on this one, I just got a new barrel not long ago and it does no have a notch for the taper pin. I am wanting to put a low profile gas block on there and I was just wondering if the notch is needed? Or does a low profile gas block even have a taper pin?

The Daniel Defense low profile gas block I used is a clamp type and does not require dimples or pins. I didn't remove the barrel from the upper receiver when I did the install so blowing in the chamber would prove difficult but maybe I should?

Or do it the opposite, the ar I just assembled I stuck my finger in the chambered end and blew down the barrel from the front. Usually the hole in the gas block is larger than the barrel hole so you have a good margin of error
