We are visiting my sister and BIL in Trion this week. As we often do we were discussing where to go eat dinner tonight. Mex, a place called Jim's or should we go to Rome? Wait a minute there is a new place in Summerville called Thatcher's. They opened three or four months ago. My sister and BIL have been there several times and were very pleased and barbecue is ALWAYS fine with me.

Well we headed to Thatcher's. We were greeted at the door and seated. Our server was Brittney and she could not have done a better job. She was incredible. We all enjoyed everything and my brisket was as good as I have had. I asked for the manager. He was a very nice young man named 'T'. I asked him twice just to be sure!!!

In short, if you are looking for good food and great service try THATCHER'S BARBECUE & GRILL in Summerville, Ga. We will be back soon, maybe tomorrow for lunch!!!!!

Been there several times and the food is okay, but not real bbq. They do not have a smoker. They cook their meat inside a big oven wrapped in foil. I looked in back of the building for wood and found none. Look in the back window an saw large oven. No smoker to be found.

My wife picked up a plate from Thatcher's on her way through the area not long after they opened. The bbq tasted like it came out of a tub from some crappy grocery store and she said that the sides weren't any better. I hope, for future customers sake, that they were just having a bad day, as I believe this isn't the only restaurant they have. I believe we've passed one in Calhoun, maybe?

It takes a lot for my wife to completely write a business off after just one visit (I'm less forgiving when the product is that bad), but even she has no desire to ever try Thatcher's again.

If you are in Summerville and want good bbq, look for a guy named Aaron. I don't know if he ever got a permanent place to cook as he used to just set up at places through town and at the various events held at the the park, but it's well worth the effort to seek him out.
