Cool. Learned a few things. Including I've been pronouncing it wrong.
The correct pronunciation of Coues deer is debated: it was named after Dr. Elliot Coues, who pronounced his name "cows," so "cows deer" is technically correct. However, the widely adopted and common pronunciation is "cooz," as in "cooz deer".
I also forgot he lived in Lewiston. I've always said I wanted to retire there even though I've never been. Guess I know why now.

I've always touted the killing efficacy of the 270! It's a bad ass round and was from day 1. A 6.8 mm bullet out of a 30-06 case. Speed, flat trajectory with a stomp when it hits.
