Straight from the article: commando units used them to take out sentries and dogs before entering an area to maintain the element of surprise. If you read the article they stopped using it for a while because it had to be re-classified to lethal force. Either way, it was killing humans.

Considerable difference between an IDF sniper firing from concealment and Jim Bob using a SR22 to defend himself against an attacker.

Look, if someone wants to defend themselves with a 22, I don't really care. I will say this however. If someone ever shoots at me with a 22 they had better hope they have sniper like accuracy and drop me instantly with a shot to the brain or spine. Anywhere else they hit me may eventually kill me, but not before I empty a magazine of 9mm into their ass.

This! It's not the weapon that isn't reliable, it's the ammo.

Tell yah what, anyone that says a 22lr is just a joke that will piss them off then try getting shot with one. I dont care if its a 9mm , 40 cal, 45 acp , or whatever, when it hits you , you will know that you've been shot . And what that shot hits will make you rethink your intent. A 22lr In The " right spot" is better than anything is in another. So long story short I dont want to be shot by shi+ . Now thats out the way is it my edc ? Um nope but its my second runner up. And would use it just the same..

I've been shot with a 22. It didn't hurt and I drove myself several hours to the hospital. It didn't start hurting for over an hour.

Also, I didn't know I had been shot until I actually cut open my pants and saw the hole. I felt heat but no pain.
