The Forever Rifle: rOm's Scout Rifle

Except that Cooper eventually said the lever rifle wasn't the concept. He moved to box fed, bolt operated. But as someone who built a scout concept of a lever action rifle, I get it.
Agreed. I was gonana buy a Steyr Scout when they came out years ago. It was a nice rifle, except for the weird and wonky built in bipod.

I saw the Ashley stuff for the Marlin and was sold immediately.

I like your choice for your Scout build, we have a couple RAs and they are fine shootin' rifles.

What you gonna use for glass on this one?

Initially I'm going to use a Hi-Lux 2-7 LER that I traded into for some ammo I didn't need. Currently cash poor and I know it's not a great scope. The goal would be to find a Leupold VXF Scout. Until then, this ole Chineseum will have to do.

Update on the build? Just thought I would remind you what the finished scout rifle should look like lol…😎😬

This thread just makes me wonder; Jeff Cooper propelled combat/practical shooting decades into the future during his career. What kind of advances could we see if we had a modern day equivalent? Or if we do, will we recognize it before they're dead and gone?

Not trying to derail the thread. Maybe that question deserves a thread all on it's own.
