The Hi Point Thread

I really want to like their carbines... I mean, a hot 10mm out of a carbine would make a great short range deer or hog gun, right?

But why do they have to be so damned ugly? I get that they are reliable and all that, but can't it be reliable and not look like it was designed by Ray Charles?

What conversion kit is that? If HP made their carbine look like that from the factory, they could charge an extra $100 for them and they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough, people would be buying them like crazy...

I guess if you like bullpups. Personally I hate them. But it's all in the eye of the beer holder, right? Only thing Hi Point needs to do is change that grip/mag well to accept double stack mags. If they used Glock mags they would have to work 3 shifts to keep up with demand.

Redball Sports make extended mags and they work great. Aftermarket mags are hard to make for the Hi Point because of the receiver design.

If they accepted Glock magazines they would get used in a much higher volume of fire. My guess is more use would equal a higher rate of breakages. The single stack magazine and keep the volume of fire low.

After getting a Tavor x95, I now get the appeal of the bullpup. Really nice to have a full length barrel for velocity and accuracy, but have the gun still be shorter than an AR pistol or SBR... If you had to use it in close quarters, or from within a vehicle, you get all the benefits of a short SBR without giving up power or range...

My X95 is shorter than my 300 Blackout pistol, despite the barrel on the Tavor being 5.5" longer than the pistol...

I get the idea behind the design. I just can't get past the looks. Plus I don't dig having the chamber right beside my face.
