The "Moving Ammo Within Georgia?" thread has me wondering...

I’m 63, I’ve been shooting since I was 5 or 6 and I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of ammo going off just from being dropped. I’ve heard rounds go off in a house fire when I was 17, house across the street burned to the ground in the middle of the night. Thank God nobody got hurt or died....
Well! I am with you! Now we have taken the shot shells for a nail gun! And tape them in a pair of pliers, Dropping the pliers to set them off!

We were at a gun show in Gwinnett probably 10 years ago and a fellow 2 tables over dropped a bag of ammo. One of the rounds went off. You could have heard a pin drop right after that. Other than some soiled pants there wasn't any damage. The fellow that dropped the bag was escorted out the front. I think they did have signs that said "no loose ammo".

That other thread got me thinking. Has anyone had a case, box or storage container of factory loaded ammo discharge or explode while in transit? Not like "totalled my truck, caught fire and my ammo blew up", but "I dropped an ammo can of .45 ACP off the truck and it just blew up." Anyone?

*even more interested in first hand stories, and less in "I heard about a buddy of mine's friend that dropped a crate of 7.62x39..."

When I was a little **** in the 80’s, we’d scotch tape Granpappys 22 rounds inside of drinking straws and chuck them bitches in the air and beat feet!!! Good times being a adolescent dip **** :pound: :grouphug:! A little pop and on rare occasion the bullet would not even get outa the straw!
