The winter bag

I add thermals and a sweatshirt. If you have to get home, the walking will keep you warm

I know one thing, I went out today for a trade and it was cold out there in the morning, a good pair of gloves my be a good idea to have in your bag.

Your post reminds me of an article I read over 20 years ago by the great Mosad Ayoob. ( Spell check please). It was an article on the ages old 9mm vs 45ACP debate. Short version was he carried both. In the summer time when people wore light thinner clothing he carried a Smith 9mm. In the winter when folks were layered in coats and shirts he carried 45 ACP. The theory was that all that material would quickly fill the cavity in any hollow point and basically turn it into a flat or round nose projectile. And in such a situation he wanted the biggest projectile available.

Wool Socks. 2 Pair. 1 for feet. 1 for hands. in case you forget your gloves.

If you have ever had to work a padlock at -60F with bare hands, you will understand.

Anybody have to utilize those winter bags yet?

After the last time I had to hike home in the ice, I keep a few packs of hot hands in the bag, and a good coat and boots in the truck.
