The writers strike is ov...

Where's all those carpenter cracks?

Got no jokes?

No I won't go back to work building your houses. I did that when I was 15 years old. I don't get the chance to build anything interesting, and I haven't had any offers for $37.65/hr yet.
You could make way more than that with self employment. But you're scared. Your fear holds you back.

In all honesty, this strike hasn't slowed me down much at all. I'm working right now on pedestals for a Titanic museum exhibit, and I went to Louisville for a show earlier this summer. I have a strike fund, and I work, I'll be fine.

But there are a ton of other people who don't have that opportunity. I feel for them, even though I'm not them.
They all have opportunities, just not all have taken advantage of them.

I'm not purchasing comp insurance just to bang on some houses a few months a year. I don't have a problem with my job, i work a lot and do well. It's nice to show up and get a check.

The problem I have is the calloused attitude towards my coworkers and friends who aren't as fortunate.

I'll be honest. My initial thoughts on what little I've seen about this strike was oh boo hoo I don't give a ****.

But after thumbing through this thread and reading yours and rOmiLaYu rOmiLaYu 's post and understanding more of what's going on I realized that I give even less of a **** than I did before.

I for one welcome our robot overlords.
