They're trying to keep the traffic cameras...

License plate covers that obscure the tag from clear observation have been illegal in Ga for at least 25 years…..long before red-light, Flock, license plate reader and speed cameras.

OCGA 40-2-41
It shall be the duty of the operator of any vehicle to keep the license plate legible at all times. No license plate shall be covered with any material unless the material is colorless and transparent. No apparatus that obstructs or hinders the clear display and legibility of a license plate shall be attached to the rear of any motor vehicle required to be registered in the state. Any person who violates any provision of this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

So what? Like Lehtos Law channel said ( he's a Michigan lawyer) that yes, it's illegal to put any type of covering over your tag. But that's only an issue if you get caught. The cameras can't rat you out for their pics being blurred out. And a lot of the products I've seen don't show up to the naked eye. On top of that I've had a Perry PD officer and a Houston Co Deputy tell me they don't give two ****s about those cameras. Are they lying to me. Well...they ARE cops.
Anyway my main point is that this is a very low level crime that not many people give a **** about. And if it works then I won't get caught.

Y'all know how the antigunners are always hollering about "The Founding Fathers never envisioned AR15 and AK rifles blah blah blah ..."
You know what else they never envisioned? Electronic surveillance on every ******* street corner or policing for profit. They never had any idea that someone could be penalized by a damn MACHINE that answers to no one. They never knew that you could be pulled over on the side of the interstate and have your money seized because it was too much for you to be carrying on you with no good answer as to what it's for or how you got it.
So with all that in mind if I have to take my chances with a tag cover or some clear spray paint or even a damn flashing LED then so be it.
