Thinking About Getting Into Boating!

IMG_0915.jpeg

Best option is rent one when needed, have it at any vacation spot you choose, walk away when finished!! It’s best to drop a few thousand throughout the year and not worry about transporting it, cleaning it, maintaining it and insuring it. I did just that a couple weeks ago and had a blast. Arrived on a Thursday evening, woke up the next day to the boat pulling up to the dock. Just plain awesome!! Oh, some big ass bug was in the pool, thought I’d scoop it out until it swam down, stuck to the side, looked at me and dared me to go swimming!!!

I'll second, third, and fourth what everyone else here has said. Don't. Unless you like spending money and having something you spend more time working on than actually enjoying. If I lived on the lake I'd have one still for sure. But, my experience, with 3 boats, 2 jet skis in my life time is time/money pit. Think of things like storage, winterizing, maintenance, having to get it out to the lake, paying to get in each time, etc and add that to your costs as well.

Only time this doesn't apply IMO is if you bought something brand new. Anything used you're bound to have an issue. My favorite times were when I'd invite the family out to meet at the lake only for my boat not to crank when we got there. Sorry everyone!

Source: Just sold my 3rd boat because I've not once got to use it this year for pleasure. Spent a month in the shop and put it up for sale as soon as it was out.
