Not an electrician, but I've known a few that were very passionate about the "right" way to mount an outlet. That's like asking which way the toilet paper roll should go. One old guy would demonstrate by shorting out an "upside down" plug with his knife. You could tell he'd done it many times because of the burnt spots on his old Case knife.
My OCD kicks in when receptacles or switches are wired using the push in connectors and they leave all the connector screws backed out. I have to screw them all down tight.
Ding. ding. ding.
Winner. Actually changes depending on which part of the country you are in.

Not shoddy, but not the best work. Used a utility box, instead of an "old work" box.
Using wood shim is SOP for straightening out box, no different that nailing to the stud.
I did electrical work, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Yes sir! Agreed! Another is not wrapping the receptacle with tape when it’s in a metal box.
