This is some bs!!!

It's ok. For now Georgia can still overrule Atlanta for the most part.

Man, I went to Fox Bros BBQ over the weekend and was SMFH at the veritable sea of Nunn and Obama yard signs and bumper stickers ITP. There was not a single Perdue, Kingston, or Romney reference to be had.
I have to laugh at some of these guys when they defer to states' rights and tell you to 'live somewhere else' if you don't like it. I wonder if they'll feel the same way when rights are crushed here at home .

Yup. If OP wants to risk the pokey with Smokey that's on him, but encouraging this is very uncool.

I don't think a lot of people understand the seriousness of the crime in NJ/NY, and the chances that you have of getting caught. 1.5 years in federal prison and a $10,000 fine to start out. I'll pass.

I hear on the news about the gang shootings in Chicago. I thought I read somewhere that if you had a pistol in your vehicle while in Illinois it had to be locked in your trunk and disassembled. Wonder if that is so, and what good is it in your trunk?

I lived outside of Chicago for about 4 years, You need to apply for a permit just to buy ammo (FOID) card. And even with the card you still had to wait 1 day for long guns and I think 3 days for pistols once they have reached your FFL.

And regarding transportation, even if your pistol was locked, in your case etc and had to drive through cook county (chicago) to get to your range and were to get pulled over. The police office technically can confiscate your firearm. That might have changed now, but don't know. As my ass is never going back. I always had a current set of gun laws printed out and stored in my glove box when I had to be in Illinois

In the last 2 years I have been traveling all over the east coast. I lived in RI, CT, DE and PA. I also spent a lot of time in NY, MA, and NJ. I grew up in GA and I also did 3 gun while I lived there. I will be very happy when I settle in PA for the next year so I can carry and get into firearms once more. DE's laws are pretty fair too, except for the residents of DE. In DE you cana legally OC without a license, have a firearm loaded in your car if it's open. You can also CC with a DE or a FL in state or out of state license. PA's laws are much like GA's. You can even carry with a GWL.

CT, RI, and MA have to be the most beautiful areas I have ever lived in. The mountains and nature are just beautiful. I love the farm lands and the country side of these areas. I wouldn't hesitate to live in certain areas of CT if they didn't have the dreaded Assault Weapons Ban. It's pretty easy to get an iout of state permit from CT. All you need is to complete a NRA Basic Pistol Course and send in a copy of your DL. RI has some weird carry laws but they dont ban Assault Weapons.

I try to avoid NY and NJ like the plague but I do enjoy going to NYC. I'm a big Jazz and Broadway guy. Philly allows me to carry and has Jazz and Broadway too but there is just something about NYC that is better. NYC is pretty safe if you go at certain times and stay in the tourist areas, There are cops on every corner and I even had a couple of them escort me to the train station because I was lost. You have to remember that there are 2 different types of NYPD officers. There are the touristy kind that acts like Park Staff at Disney. They tend to be friendly and wouldnt hurt a fly. Then there are the NYPD officers who think they are on NYPD Blue that I would avoid unless you have a death wish.

I hate New Jersey. My in laws live there and we occasionally have to visit. You can only have certain firearms in your house. NJ doesnt give any license to anyone. The only time you can bring your firearms out of your house is to go straight to the range. You cant even get gas in between. No JHPs only FMJ ammo. Also, if you are driving through make sure y ou don't stop until you get to your destination. Make sure you pu everything in a trunk, and make sure you have NOTHING that looks like a gun case visible because that gives them the right to search your vehicle. Also, check the knife laws before visiting NY and NJ.
