We have 4 others ranging from Chi's to a black lab. We had a larger male pittie that was 2 years old, that I just had to put down. He was getting increasingly aggressive and kept attacking the senior lab, and was starting to get aggressive with some people. We made sure he was neutered a year ago, hoped that would calm him down... we spent thousands sending him up to Scott Rucker for training, etc...

He would be fine for months, and then one day just snap and attack the dog. Then he would be fine for a week, or a day, and do it again. The last time, myself and my step son(grown adult) could not get him to disengage from the other dog and we had to put him down... he was becoming a danger and a liability.

Hardest thing I have ever had to do. He was my buddy and an amazing dog 99% of the time. But that 1% that you could never predict, went from docile to scary in the blink of an eye.

If I get another pit, it will be from a highly rated breeder with proven stable bloodlines, etc... Max was a bit over 70lbs with a head like a brick and all I could think of in that last attack, was if it had been some kid and Max decided to take his arm off. Really miss him, but don't miss that aspect of him.
