Sounds very familiar with my wife dealing with dogs..Most of the time he did. He never acted up when I was around, always when I wasn't present and it was my wife in charge. But every once in awhile it was like a switch flipped.
Probably happens with a lot of dogs, but when a Chi or a yorkie does it, it's not a problem. When its a big meat head with steel trap for jaws, it was a problem. I miss him every day.
Next time I will be very selective about where I get a large dog like that from.
