Hopefully an act of violence like this will focus the attention on violence and it's causation...not the tool used. Right now we can use the media bias against guns to our advantage. There is no need for childish comparisons between guns and knives, when the focus on violence can be brought about by ignoring the fact that a knife was used. Don't want to see guns unfairly in the spotlight? Then don't bring up the "assault knife" thing when lobbying your position with fence sitting friends. Get the attention shifted away from all inanimate objects, and where it belongs.

I've been discussing this via email this morning with a very anti-gun friend. He's just waiting to pounce with "if he'd had an assault weapon, they'd all be dead" but the conversation has been clearly focused on mental illness. Give it a try.

I'm all for public hangings (and doing away with the 20 year appeals process for convicted murderers), but don't classify this perp. as a "corrupt scumbag " just yet. The media, liberal or otherwise, has one single purpose, to sell time. The bottle blonde and the guy with perfect hair and teeth have one job, keep your attention long enough to get you through another dozen commercials. That's it folks, nothing more. News is a business now and it's not about the actual news, just ratings which generate income selling commercials.
