Threaded Suppressor Adapter Question

this WILL actually get you in deep doodoo as the internals are considered suppressor parts

My understanding was that you could not possess extra baffles, nor elongate the suppressor more than the registered dimensions, and must retain the original serialized part. If you wanted to re-core/replace baffles, the originals had to be destroyed, but there is no rule saying you couldn't.

You are absolutely correct. I was just trying to find a useful project to practice machining with, lol. I'll probably still do the adapter to see if I can get it right. Then just buy this for real use when needed.

I would build it!

The adapter would not be included in the overall length of the suppressor from my understanding.

I’m confused as to why your 9mm can doesn’t already have 1/2x28 threads?

At the beginning of all this I was just trying to find a project to practice machining on that could be useful, so I didn't really dig into my parts box to see what I had. After your reply I went and checked and yes, I do have the 1/2-28 piston. At this point it would be better to find something not so far into the gray areas of legality.

untrue. the only part with a serial number is the tube. a baffle is legally the same as a wipe which you can replace at will.

This is completely wrong. You can't have either as spares laying around. That's why a suppressor with a wipe has to be sent back to the manufacturer for replacement to be in full compliance of the law.

ATF would like to disrespectfully disagree, all this changed a few years ago and got even worse just a couple ago aka why dead air stopped making the wiped mask and why form 1 cans were enmass denied

When was there a wiped mask? I don't remember that one. Dead air still sells the wipe end caps and has a how to video on sourcing and replacing wipes which is funny. Just need to hand it to a special person to place the wipe in legally, lol.
