I cut my old SKS parts gun down to paratrooper length. Now I want to attach a flash hider/muzzle brake to it. I like the Krink style and the AK74 style. But those are longer than I wanted to use . So I considered a plain old AR birdcage style.

Question here is what is the correct thread pitch I guess is the term to use either of these breaks. And can it be threaded as it is now or will the muzzle end of the barrel need to be turned down to a smaller diameter?

I wouldn't thread a .30 caliber barrel with a .223 caliber flash hider. That would be bad.

AR-.223 caliber are 1/2 28.

I cant remember the AK thread pitch, but someone smart will chime in shortly.

Thanks guys. Although I thought the opening in the AR flash hider was a good bit larger than the round itself. I guess I could go with the set screw style but most of them look like ****. And most of them secure at least partially to the front sight base. My front sight is completely gone. I plan on ordering the Prince 50/Bullet Button replacement after Christmas.
