What church did you go to? When I was a kid they taught Bible in Sunday school.:thumb:

I briefly went to a catholic church when I was younger. When my mother found out I wasn't really learning anything at catechism and that I disliked going she didn't make me continue. I know this question wasn't directed to me, but I answered anyway lol. So the verse you quoted was new to me.

The acceptability of certains words is dictated by old women & busy-bodies with too much time on their hands who get offended by the sound of a particular word. I normally don't referece Wikipedia, but they have a good example in this case. The problem is, the censors used by this site kill it when you try to reference it. Check it out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversies_about_the_word_%22******dly%22
Then, try this link http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/williams/williams020499.htm Now, do an open search on the definition and root of the word David Harris used (in parenthesies at the end of the first paragraph) to find out it doesn't even share the same root as the similar sounding racial slang.

Many common "curse" words that don't even involve cursing were formerly used in common speech and fell out of favor because of stupid people and busybodies (formerly known as old women with nothing better to do or talk about). If you don't know the difinition of a word, keep your mouth shut and look it up before making the fool out of yourself.

On a side note, sometime when you are feeling particularly antagonistic; tell people you support polygamy (with multiple male and female partners). After they quit yelling at you, ask them why it is any different than divorce or gay marriage and see how they respond. Think about their answers and I think most will at the core be conditioned responses.

Rant over...for now.
