Last night while stuffed from eating, i found a movie on Netflix, Tomorrow, When the War began. It is an Australian movie aka Red Dawn and though it was slow, light on the action, if was pretty well made and more "realistic" than Red Dawn.

They did have this in there which made it more realistic, so for those who want to think about an invasion outside of the UN, this is how it occurred in their homeland

1. Japan or another Asian army invaded Australia and had it under lock down in 24hrs ! (they did not go into detail, but the enemy was Asian so N.Korea etc)

2. The enemy hid their forces and supplies in cargo containers on legit ships as "freight"

3. Once all the ships were in the major harbors of Australia, they quickly seized control of all ports and airfields first in a co-originated attack

4. They knocked out all power except in certain areas for detainment and rounded up civilians (Remember, they do not have the firearms we have in the US, so alot of the civi's went along)

5. Once the ports airports were secured, they spread out to key areas and controlled the air and sea with planes, naval gunships and had scout party's go out for supplies.

This was a pretty neat example of how a large force could come into the ports. I have been on ships and outside of leaving the country of origin, that is it until you reach your destination. So a country that wants to invade another, could just load up their stuff and ship it to another without suspicion.

I would not recommend watching the movie, it was pretty boring and the action was quick and not that exciting, but it was more realistic as you would expect from teenagers who have no clue about combat. So, I would say it was more realistic than action and not too bad if you like those type of movies

It's interesting and totally plausible ..... Australia has almost no guns, nearly their entire population density is in just a small handful of port cities and the entire landmass has a population barely bigger than New York City.

According to the CIA World Factbook Australia has a population of just over 22 million. Their population has roughly eight million people of military age or slightly more than one third of their population.

According to the Global Firepower website Australia is ranked 24th in the world. Militarily China might take Australia but North Korea wouldn't as they are ranked 22nd. Basically they don't have the preponderance of fire power to make it stick. Let's not forget that Australia is a member of NATO with all the mutual defense treaties that go along with that membership.

Politically speaking I don't think Australia's leaders have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to invaders. I can't speak for their military leaders but their rank and file soldiers, sailors and airmen are every bit as dedicated and professional as ours.

It looks like a movie worth watching. ;)

I read somewhere that Australia was increasing the size of their military. Something about they couldn't rely on us anymore.

Looks like a good enough movie to me.

That country is messed up with there laws. For those that hunt there, they have to verify that they have so many acres of land to hunt on to base their choise of cartridge before they can buy a rifle. But I wonder what someone would do with all that land down there....is there any oil? Maybe they have vast reserves of the matierials to build lithium ion batters..?..I hear those are in short supply these days.

it is a decent movie, i liked it for its plausibility and realistic thought of how people would react. some people just want action, i like the deepness of some movies and one like this does show how I would see some teenagers handling themselves in a situation

I saw that one and liked it, however, was very dissapointed that I didn't see a single SMLE anywhere in the movie!!

I woulda thought some farmer would have one sitting around somewhere... considering the history of Australians and SMLE's...
