Took the kids to Strong Point today! What a great way to spend an afternoon. My 7 year old daughter didn't want to shoot the "little" 22. She wanted to shoot the AR! She put almost 100 rnds through it. Mostly at 100yd where she did well, but also at 400! She managed several hits on a man sized steel target at that range. All with a holosun red dot! My 11 year old used his AR with a red dot to pelt the 100yd steel and then once he figured out the hold over he was ringing the 400y with regularity. He got bored with that so he started using the Henry 22 to shoot the 400y! Once he figured it out he was an easy 50% on target. With iron sights and a good left to right crosswind. He put one clip though the M1, that he asked me to bring, before he decided the AR was a lot easier on the shoulder!
As far as the range, nice people and a 400y known distance range with steel every 100yd. They also have pistol bays but we didn't use them this time. They had no issues at all with letting the kids shoot. My son was allowed his own lane next to the one my daughter and I were using. Also, 12 and under shoot free!
