Tranny slipping or bad gas filter?

Our 95 Camry 2.2 lt. has a weird slipping or hesitating feel when going up hill. Is it possible that it could be something simple like not enough gas due to a gas filter?

could be, but you should be able to hear it in the engine.

How the fluid level in the tranny and whens the last tie its been changed?

I try to avoid trannys at all cost.

LOL!

Gas filter/fuel feed issue should be more of a nose-dive stop/start. Slipping tranny is more of a coast/grab feeling. Check transmission fluid level first. Low enough fluid can cause or exacerbate slippage. Then check for rough idle. Clogging fuel filter should still cause problems even with transmission in neutral or park. But the engine would need to be revved to replicate it in some cases. Tras in the filter can sit still under normal flow and be stirred up during greater flows.

bring to my shop... i will give you my honest opinion no charge... pm me if you interested.. im located in norcross

I would guess transmission. Check your fluid levels. If it has just started to do it, you may be okay to top off transmission fluid. I have a beater daily driver mitsubishi outlander that leaks... well, everything. I top of tranny fluid every other oil change.

It does the same thing when it gets low. Typically when I am cruising and running at a lower RPM up an incline. It shudders.

Drive around for 15 minutes and check your fluid. Should be 2 lines on the dip stick... a hot and a cold. Fill it to the hot marker. I may take a few miles to get the fluid distributed but so long as you caught it in time, the shuddering/slipping should go away.

However, chances are some damage has been done and you may want to look into a new car in the near future.

I am driving my beater until the tranny blows, motor blows, or otherwise. Grab my get home bag... toss the keys on the hood and walk away

Make sure you are firing on all cylinders

This. Sounds like a partial load missfire. Does it get worse climbing a hill in 4th or 5th gear?
Plugs been changed? How old are the plug wires? Coils? (a bad injector can cause a dead miss or lead miss too)
Sure, it COULD be a fuel issue, plugged filter usually causes surging though, not a slipping feeling. Does it idle smooth?
