Travel Ideas- woman wants an adventure for her 50th

My girl, who is awesome and I love is turning 50 in Oct. We both have passports. Im not vaxed, but I will if I absolutely have to for a good reason. Giving her an adventure to remember is a good reason.

Im thinking a week. She wants a couple days at a beach, im cool with that. Belize, Costa Rica, South, Central America, Thailand, Vietnam all on the table. we have never been to any of these places. I have traveled a bit and have a philosophy that you need to go to a new place at least 3 times to get into adventure. I tend to be a traveler, not a tourist

Resorts are good for a day or two but I want to get out and see the real ****, DR is haiti and im not interested in that or PR. Hawaii is ok and easy but adventure? and Im not crazy about giving them my $

So, Europe (Azores, Spain, Portugal) someplace with history and the ability to miss the cruise ship crowds(nothing against them or anyone)

so, 7 days, want adventure, ok with intra vacation traveling , a beach at some point. Non vax friendly a major +

Where would you go?

If you choose Costa Rica, let me know. My wife is Costa Rican, and I've been there 100+ times.....we are cashing it in here and moving there permanently in a few months. There are tons of awesome areas and things to do there, 8 micro-climates, beautiful beaches, cloud forests, thrilling whitewater rivers, awesome surfing, the best deep sea fishing I've ever done, delicious food, etc etc etc.

Most of Europe is going to be a no-go without vaccinations. Panama is another place you didn't mention that has the potential for a pretty cool road trip bouncing around airbnb's. They have beaches, mountains and everything in between as well.

Oh yeah. In fact, October is about the start of the marlin runs. BTW, no jab needed for entry to Costa Rica.

Yep, Ill do it, begrudgingly but i would do it if I have to. I hadnt thought of Panama, I know its a great place. Thanks for the suggestion!

My wife and I won a 6 nights stay at the Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys and it was nice. We got a bungalow, drove to Key West and back, saw Dolphins. We looked for a decent beach but our ignorance of the area probably got in the way of finding one. It was nice and quiet and if I could afford it, we'd go again.
