Travel out west must see destinations.

I've reached the stage in my life where I appreciate spending more time is fewer places and really getting to appreciate where I'm at. I've also reached the stage in my life where my time is more precious than money. Personally I'd fly into Denver and drive from there. 2 weeks still isn't time to do much more than hit the highlights, but at least you won't spend 4-6 days of your two weeks driving through the boring parts.
Last summer we flew into Vegas and spent 2 weeks driving around southern Utah and northern AZ. Saw Zion, Bryce, the North Rim of the GC, and a number of other places, and it still felt hurried. My goal for retirement is to take the time to really see the US.

Amen and good luck........

Have to echo that the Grand Canyon is a must see. There are lots of beautiful spots to see out West, but that has to be about the most impressive sight in the world.

Late last year we traveled from GA to OR/WA in our camper van.
Couple thing we done,
Million Dollar highway from Durango to Silverton Colorado.
Pikes Peak drove up and took the train.
Of course you could visit Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore, Deadwood.
Monument Valley, Canyon Lands, Arches National Parks in Utah.
We've been to all of them on previous trips.

Also the train ride from Durango to Silverton is a great ride.

not to hijack the thread but did you build that out or purchase?

I drove to the Grand Canyon. 3days to a camp ground...in Jacob Lake on the north rim. Saw the north rim the next morning, then that night in a campground on the shore of the lake in Paige. Proceeded to tour Colorado. Had tix for the train in Durango. Went all over Colorado. Back home in 2weeks. I had a camper top on a pickup with a couple bunk beds. That kind of freestyle traveling is much harder to do now because of restrictions on overnight parking and campgrounds require reservations and stay booked. Been back to the canyon several times but I flew to Vegas and rented a car.

You can still do it, there is still a good bit of dispersed camping available, just look for the National Forests and BLM land on the map and you can pretty much tuck in wherever you want.

It is however a bit more crowded.
