I always liked the base model trucks especially the F150 XL. Mostly for the rubberized floor covering. Carpet in a car is bad enough but carpet in a truck is just plain stupid. I don't want or need the huge touch screens or push button start and I damn sure don't want that feature where the engine cuts out if you sit still idling too long. That just seems like future problems just waiting around the corner. And just like you said about not a lot to break I completely agree. If your vehicle doesn't have said option then that option won't break.I have a 2004 GMC Sierra four-wheel drive SLE with 90,000 miles on it. Still looks new. It's a regular cab with minimal options. Not a whole lot to break. Even if I had the money I wouldn't own a 100,000 truck. It doesn't make sense. Especially a domestic vehicle. They depreciate so so much immediately after they are titled.
I have an 01 Dakota 4 door loaded out truck in my yard that I bought super cheap during Covid. It's been broken down the whole time I've owned it. The parking lights stay on no matter what. Even when you switch it off they stay on. After trying a few expensive and non returnable switches and relays I found out it's the Body Control Module or basically the engine computer. Turns out they go bad on a regular. And they've bout.of production for over 20 years. I could get one on eBay but I would either be getting one with the same problem or waiting to have the same problem. ****in Chrysler! Whateryougonnado, right?
Point is...even though it's a damn cursed Dodge if I had the base model without the bed light , extra parking lights and all the damn power options it would probably be running just fine.
