Well, after three dismal seasons in a row, this one has been great. I got into my blind at 6:30, only to have a turkey gobbling at 6:40. I made a soft call and he triple gobbled. He continued to gobble for 20 minutes, when a hen walked into my little food plot on the edge of a clearcut. She fed for 10 minutes and then went back out, but I could still see her about 50 yards to my left. I hadn't heard a gobble in a few minutes and decided to make a soft call with my diaphragm. He gobbled immediately and the hen started coming back. She finally made her way back to the food plot when I saw movement in the clearcut. He was circling the plot and approaching from an 11 o'clock position. He came in and strutted, as I was taking the safety off. When he straightened up, the hammer came down. I shot him at 32 yards, with one of Sambo77 's custom TSS rounds, in 20 gauge. He dropped like a rock. He weighed 20lbs 13 ozs and had an 11.5" beard with a few strands at 12". I guess it's time to go fishing.
