2 A.M. Why? The only reason I can think of is this would be the safest time for everyone- police and suspects. Well maybe you should just have surrounded the house with flood lights and announced "Come out with you hands up."

If you knock 3 times, say police, girl scouts, GBI, FBI, BATFE, or anything else, and bust in my door, even in the middle of the day, much less at 2:00 am, then you should expect to be shot numerous times.

There's really no need in knocking.
They don't give the occupants time to answer the door, before they bust the door off the hinges.
