Two way radios

Just look at what happened yesterday in Boston, they shut down the cell towers out of fear of them setting off another bomb. That goes to show how easy it would be to stop comunication.

Team Units: Midland Marine 50 Mile Units on private channels. (In working range)
Emergency System: Back up CB radios and a ham transmitting station.
Auxillary Units: Any two way that can meet the channel requirments.

Remember folks if you decide to go down this route that your conversations are not private so codes should be designated and used.

Charging.....Repurpose a DC inverter, an alternator, a car battery, and an old bicycle and wholla......Viet Cong Generator.

You can "borrow" farad capacitors from the stereo guys in their hondas to store more juice as you peddle.

I have always wanted a set of two ways.... I just dont see the need to have something sitting arround going unused. I shoot my guns, I rotate my ammo and use it sparingly, but i dont see myself ever actually using these unless it hits....

There's always ham radio. You have to get a license but the test is easy and the license is good for 10 years. You can talk on repeaters all around you or on simplex if you are close enough.

The bayofangs can be used like a standard 2 way radio but also can be used on HF. You got to have a license to transmit on HF though. I can bring my ICOM and a Bayofang on the trip if people want to compare them.

pretty dang cool man. So since they are ham you gotta have a license?
p

Yeah you are supposed to if you want to transmit. The license test looks really easy to pass with a little prep, I just have been too lazy to go take it. Works on frs and gmrs frequencies which is cool since I have a gps that has a radio so now that I got this I have a pretty good pair of radios should I need them
