Always on the lookout for unusual stuff, so when I saw this little Helwan sporting Arabic script, I had to take a closer look.
It is a military Helwan, which saw service with the short lived U.A.R. (United Arab Republic) a brief political union between Egypt and Syria (1958-1961)
These are pretty uncommon, only a Danshway version is 'rarer'.
The bad is that one of the lugs on the locking block sheared off at some point, and the mag is missing. The broken lug was a common Achilles heel for some of these pistols.
Either way, to me it is a great piece of history. It will be getting the parts soon with a bit of luck. Thought you guys might like to see it.
Oh, and finally got my hands on a Ballester Molina the same day..love it.
