Actually, the only Fuji component on the Premier is the reel seat, just the like the Triumph. The guides are from Batson.
The biggest difference between the two is in the warranty. The Triumph (and all of their Mexican-made rods, iirc) carry a 5 yr warranty while the US-built rods come with a lifetime warranty. The rods feel and fish the same, as they're the exact same blanks with different guides and paint. I've owned and used both (along with the Mojo which is also built on the same blank), and there isn't $.05 worth of difference between them.

You may want to check with St. Croix about that.

Now, the Avid is in a whole different world compared to the Premier/Mojo/Triumph, and is well worth the money over them if you're determined to stick with St. Croix. I've owned a few of them, and they're nice rods. I sold all of mine, though...and replaced them with five BPS Carbonlites and a Browning HiPower (the rod, not the gun). To me, they're just lighter and more sensitive at almost half the price.
They may lack the durability and lifetime warranty of the Avids...but I haven't broken one yet.
My UL setup consists of an older 5' Eagle Claw Featherlite with a little BPS TinyLite underspin, which is just a rebadged Pflueger Microspin 4410U. I'll probably upgrade one of these days, but this little setup does what I need it to, cost less $40, and is darn near unbreakable.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I've sold off at least a dozen rods and reels in the past year alone, not to mention several hundred dollars' worth of lures. Much of my gear is just sitting down in the shop collecting dust due to school and family obligations. I used to go fishing a few times a week. I don't think I've been out since November, maybe even longer.
