Unemployed again

If I had a chance to start my own business, I would. I had the opportunity 25 years ago to buy a Dive shop, but couldn't get the capital. My biggest problem in starting a new career is I have no other marketable skills.

Skilled trades are desperate for people, once you learn a skill you will almost always be able to find work. HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry. Avoid residential, commercial and industrial is where its at imo.

Likely wont get rich but if you have any brains and are good with customers you can make good money

My position was cut today, no notice and no severance. I'm going to try and remain positive and look for a new position. Last time, it took 18 months to find my last job, and it really sucked... I hope I can find a now one quickly.
Dang. I feel your pain. 14 months for me and counting...
Had a good friend also get blindsided yesterday after 8 years in a 'downsizing'.
Not fun being dry behind the ears in this market.
Keep your chin up... here's hoping for landing quickly and firmly!

OP,

Surely there are IT type jobs available in ATL.

If not,
I know a lot of people who have went to the local Welding Trades School here in Carrollton, & now have gainful employment.

The Head Welding Instructor can be a bit of a stick in the mud, but he prepares new welders for their future, which is more important.

Look Into it if you find you need to do something else.

Even women are doing it these days.
