Update 30July:

Just got done with the follow up.

Cast looks very good still. They're changing the wrap around it because he chewed it just a bit.

Otherwise we're in good shape and going the right direction.

Just left the specialist. Due to financial restraints we opted not to have the surgery done. Instead we had the splint remove and the bones set again. The vet was able to set them much better this time.

Will have to go back in a week for a follow up and possible cast change.

Thank yall for the prayers and donations.

Update 20 July:

Vet called and said there would be a 50/50 chance that he will heal with just the splint.

Basically we have two options:

1) have the splint changed every two weeks for 10-12 weeks(may need sedated each time)

2) take him to a orthopedic specialist.

I have since created a go find me account. http://m.gofund.me/zvfwe8g
Original Post -

Was outside enjoying a nice fire on this cool evening with some friends.

Heard my boy start yelping. Couldn't quite see where he was since it was dark out. Ran inside grabbed the SBR with light on it and ran back outside to see him sitting at the end of his runner with one foot off the ground.

Turns out he has broken all but one bone in his foot. No bite marks or scrapes. Vet thinks he ran after something and the runner got caught around his foot and basically snapped his foot.

They have him sedated now as they set his foot.

Last time we went to the ER it's because he had gotten lose and in the process of getting him back him I stepped on a nail.

Cruel delayed Karma I reckon. Either way he's still my boy.

Say a prayer for him please and pass the word.

Just got back home. He's all doped up on dog morphine and got a lime green cast around his hind leg.

Cheaper than a human ER visit.

Got him in his bed. Went outside to get a better look at the scene of the incident.

Appears something caught his eye and he took off after it. And the runner got caught up around his foot and snapped the bones when he reached the end of the runner.

The anchor for his runner that's above ground was just about bent the whole way over.

DJD.... Great thing is dogs are such resilient creatures that heal so well, and fast. And even in a cast, their spirits are hard to break. One of the many lessons we could learn from our four legged friends/family members.
