Vertical Grip vs Handstop

Which do you prefer and why?

I was thinking of it being more of just an index point than actually using it as a grip.

I install a very short VFG, then use it as a handstop with a top thumb break hold.

I installed this VFG, then cut it even shorter. Left enough length to use it as a very positive handstop.

You mounting the VFG to a Picatinny rail, by KeyMod, or MLok?

OK, question... if you are using a short VFG as a handstop, why not just use a hand-stop? Is there a secondary use where the 'grip' part would come into play?

cmshoot can answer this better I'm sure but my thinking behind it is that it would just give a little more surface to use as a reference and to help pull the rifle into your shoulder better.
