We didn't lose any knowledge on how to get to the moon and back. It was damn expensive and the public lost interest in funding it through tax dollars.

If there was money to be made doing it we'd go back into space. Oh wait, that's what Elon is doing with starlink. Not sure how he's going to afford colonizing Mars but that's another discussion.

NASA said they lost video, photos and the knowledge of how to traverse the Vann Allen Radiation Belt. That's documented.
