Pleiku! My dad was a crew chief on Spooky/Puff gun ships (back then they were built on C47s. Master Sgt stationed in Pleiku in 68

He said other than the nightly rocket attacks, it was a relatively "safe" air base. But there was a period when Viet Cong were hitting the fences every night. It wasn't much more than an annoyance having to shoot them off the wires and cleaning up the bodies in the morning. Someone figured out that they were laying in that nasty swamp water all day breathing through reeds and then coming out to hit the fence well after dark. Dad got a medal of some kind for coming up with this idea. He backed a fuel truck down to the edge of the swamp, emptied it into the water and one little sweep of napalm on the outer edge lit the water up and didn't hurt the base. And, they didn't have to sit up shooting VC off the fences all night anymore.
