Walmart selling Handguns?

I used to sell them at WM..

Worked there a looonnnnng time ago..

(The minute the old man kicked off, a lot of things changed at the big WM.)

This would be cool.... But there would never be anyone back there to sell you one or get into the ammo cabinet. They already have to page 20 dif people to find the one with the key AND that's after you go find an associate lol! Don't get me wrong though folks, I love Wally world

maybe they would change their crappy policy on having a manager walk you out the front door like a criminal after you bought a gun

i'd like to see it to help out with price competition, but they would probably sell derivitive models of popular guns that were made to a lower standard just like most other things at walmart

Aint that the truth!

I remember when they used to sell handguns; I seem to recall a lot of Llamas. I believe they stopped handgun sales due to political fallout from a pop-song by Cheryl Crowe that had some lyric about kids getting a pistol from Wal-Mart. I think Wallyworld was so pissed about it that they stopped selling her music for a while.

I dont know why they ever quit to begin with...todays world though there would be some jack leg buy a pistol and ammo go to the parking lot, load it kill some folks and .....bammm there goes the 2nd amendment or something.

Isn't the Wal-mart sells lesser quality guns thing an old rumor?
With my cousin I have taken identical Rem 870's apart and 2 Mini-14's apart and there was not one thing we could see different between Wal-mart guns and BP guns. What ever parts that actually had numbers on them matched up between guns. I mean does Buck or Kershaw make a cheaper quality knife than the one you buy at Cabelas or BP? Does Coke have a different formula or Tide a different soap just for Wal-mart? It's always been cheaper to mass produce an item than to re-tool for a one off line. I don't think there is an ounce of difference in the firearms at Walmart and the ones at the local gun store - all guns being the same. I may be wrong and if so I would like to see something with facts showing that it does or has happened. It would make a difference to me if they were an inferior gun and I would shop elsewhere! But the ones I have from there are ticking along just fine.

eff that..guess I'm the only one that hates this idea :/ course I hate walmart with a passion too so

I think Wal Mart selling handguns (and long guns) is great, because I want broader access by the population who CAN own firearms TO own firearms. Not every town has ready access to a gun store, but most towns DO have easy access to Wal- Mart. While it will hurt the local gun shop, the pain felt will mostly stabilize into lower-end (cheaper) handguns; I don't expect Wal Mart will offer much in variety, either. If I remember correctly, they used to only offer maybe 5 handguns at any given time (you could pick one of two available .38/357, a .22, a .45 acp, and maybe a .380).
