OK, I know I'm gonna get a bunch of jokes about putting "lube in my can" and stuff like that, but I promise you guys IT WORKS!

My Sparrow has FRP on the first couple of rounds. It's not really THAT bad, but it's noticable. I knew about running the can wet to kill the FRP and that works great if you've got time to spray some water in it right before you shoot, but what if you need to grab your gun and shoot fast? You can't keep the gun stored with water in the can.

So I started trying to think of something that you could coat the baffles with that would stay on them in storage. I tried wheel bearing grease first and it didn't do all that well. Maybe being able to stand up to high temps kept it from killing the FRP? I don't know. Next I tried some white lithium grease. It stopped the FRP, but it stunk like hell! It was also too thin to stay on the baffles. When I stored the rifle, barrel facing down the grease eventually ran out of the end of the can.

So I started looking around the house for other options. That's when I saw the Vaseline. I used a Qtip to coat the baffles with a thin coat. It's thick enough to stay where you put it and it kills every bit of FRP. The first couple of shots do smoke pretty bad, but your first shot will be just as quiet as your last.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody on ODT talk about doing this, so I figured I'd pass it on.
