Warm up your house hacks...

2 years ago my heat went out in my downstairs furnace. Upstairs was fine. No one froze.

I did the following for a couple of days.

Turned on my oven and cracked the door ( electric)

Cooked a lot on my gas range top

Turned on my electric heaters strategically

What have you done to stay warm if your heat goes out?

If the downstairs furnace goes out, I turn on the oven, use the fireplace and electric heaters. I have an electric oil filled radiant heater that will keep the downstairs toasty warm. If upstairs goes out it just me and the dogs so, I'll use an electric heater in my bedroom the rest of the upstairs doesn't have to be heated. I already use the electric heater in my bedroom and keep the upstairs thermostat at 62 to keep the gas bill low.

Firewood

Slightly off topic, but wouldn't it be nice to have a couple of hundred watts of heat that followed you around the house, so you could turn down the thermostat overall, and only heat the rooms people are in, and when they're actually in them?

Naw.
