We’ve gone from the olden days of a scrub board and manual labor to get your clothes clean. Then 50 years of electric models that actually cleaned for you. Now we’re making washers that dont even tumble the clothes. Agitator-less models. How do these models even sell? I just got my first from a friend who upgraded. What a pile of trash. What are the rest of the Odts wives using? We mainly wanted the larger 5’ models for oversize blankets and bedding but the one I got cant even agitate a load of T shirts. Another genius idea from our government Im sure..

Yep, the house we moved to has one. (New type)
Hate it. Uses about a tablespoon full of water. Guess the clothes are just supposed to rub each other clean.

I been repairing washers of my own for over 30 years. If you ain't changed a wig-wag then you've missed a big chunk of washer history.

Ive still got my parents hotpoint they bought in 73 (the year they married). Been through lots of clutches, one motor and waterpumps over the years. Its in storage as a backup. Cant get rid of it due to separation anxiety.

I am considering giving it back to them on their 50th anniversary

5’ models?
I have no idea what that is. I went to the store with my wife, she said “I want that one “ and we bought it.

We have never known anyone with a front loader who like it, so we have never bought one.

I did notice last year when we bought a new set for the new house that basic models like ours now cost more than the front loaders.

Capacity. Capacity seems to be restricted on the agitator models. At least from what Ive seen anyways. I think our current model is just under 3 cu ft.
