We’ve come full circle with washing machines

I have a set of front load Neptunes I bought back in 2004 and they are still running like champs. Wash great and hold a lot more than top-loaders with the agitator.

I don't have a problem with the water, but then every other load I run usually has some bleach in it. If you never use bleach I could see it smelling if it sat too long since there's always some water in the bottom (at least on the Neptunes).
Bought a set of them about the same time. They were great. Sadly the wife wanted the newer style with the glass doors. Gave them to friends. Probably still working

Gave away a JC Penny washing machine in 2018 that was 40 years old and still worked. It had a cinderblock as a counter balance. Heaviest washing machine I've ever moved.

We had an old Kenmore top loader that worked. But my wife just had to have a front loader, that was the thing then. Now my wife wants another top loader.......I'm in no hurry.......

That’s gotta be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Kudos to the manufacturer, the spin mode kept working even as the unit was coming apart. Let this be a reminder to everyone of what not to put in your washer.
The guy bypassed the excess vibration cutout and hard-wired the power to the motor directly. Wouldn't surprise me if he also took out a few cabinet screws, to boot.

I grew up with one of those. Parents got it from Sears when they moved into the house I grew up in in 1959. It went with the house when we had to sell it in the mid-80s, and is probably still running today.

When I moved to Paulding in '98 I picked up the same type Kenmores at the Sears scratch and dent store. They lasted about 6 years but had all kinds of problems. That's why I went with the Neptunes when I moved to my current place.
