We can all calm down now, none of us are catching ebola.

And it's flu season.

Anybody with a fever or di'rea could have the flu...or ebola. When's the last time anybody missed 3 weeks of work with the flu or ???

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks that I've had some nasty crap. High fever, vomiting, etc. the entire 1st week. Not so bad the last 5-6 days. Still coughing and congested. BUT...I don't do doctors unless it involves a missing appendage. Didn't get anyone in my immediate household sick though.

Lol. Good Morning. Look, Im not trolling I just think that its not that much of a threat to the US. Is it bad? Sure, If you live in West Africa.

The NURSE who was sick and flew to Cleveland and shopped with family and then flew back to Dallas shows exactly why this is far worse than some can imagine.

What would possess someone who had just seen what an Ebola patient goes thru to fly home knowing there was a chance they had it? Da Nile is not just a river.

The simple fact that Mr Duncan was not flown immediately to Atlanta or another of the hospitals where the staff is actually trained and they actually have the equipment should be enough to convince anyone that the CDC has not as much of a clue as they want you to think.

Fact is it can be dealt with in a small back water African clinic, it could have been dealt with in that one in Texas. BUT that would have meant the people dealing with it would have had to have had a clue and they would have had to have had the desire to deal with it correctly. THAT was not the case.

The title of this thread is about a silly as those people saying you WILL catch Ebola. What's funny is that this site is full of people who carry their weapon "just in case", but will scoff at the notion that they should at least keep an eye on what is going on with this Ebola scenario. Will you catch it? Highly unlikely in my opinion. Am I preparing now "just in case" it outpaces our ability to contain it? Damn straight.

Ebola ruled out as passenger dies on Nigeria flight to JFK

Yep go on and keep debating just how hard it is to catch it. Instead of calling your reps and telling them to do the below. Meanwhile as winter progresses, it may or may not slowly spread around the country, people will continue to panic, overwhelm a healthcare system now almost destroyed, and the economy will collapse further.

But hey at least you'll be an expert on how hard it is to catch ebola, and you can impress all your friends and neighbors...

I don't know what the risk of catching it on one of those flights is.

But I do know that if we had a pres. and CDC who were at all competent, they would never have let that nurse travel. The risk would be zero.

Well the fundamental problem is that people are relying on government agencies to tell them what to do and how to think. That nurse relied on the CDC instead of what should have been an easy judgement call ( especially for someone who just saw the disease and is medically trained). People are relying on the CDC and other govt agencies to tell them what to do and if everything is O-K....how many times do you have to be lied to before you start realizing all you can do is rely on your own judgement? I'm not advocating going in to full panic mode but you should be at least mentally prepared to face facts that this thing could get way out of hand very quickly. The govenrment has consistently only admitted to things once they get so out of hand there is no denying it and even then sometimes they STILL try to pull the wool down. I'm not convinced, and I think rightfully so, that the CDC has even a 50% knowledge of just what this disease can do or how it can be spread.
