For the Boomers, the few on the ODT, will remember back in the day, that the US Govt. had to refund our CB license fees they made us pay to get a "license" to talk on our CB radidios. Ahh. Maybe it can happen with the NFA fees.Is the SHORT Act the one where those who paid for tax stamps get refunded the cost if the bill passes? Someone at my LGS mentioned one of those bills contained that clause some time ago.
Either way, this is AMAZING. SBRs and SBSs will fly off the shelves when this passes (for stores that actually carry them).
It's not necessary for states like GA to do anything.I seem to remember seeing that Texas removed their 'illegal unless registered with under NFA' state law a while back. It sounds like we will need that here in GA if this all goes through.
Also, I would think that existing suppressors would be grandfathered in. After all, you have the tax stamp to prove it was properly registered. I could see it delaying, or even preventing new sales though.
Anyone seeing the GA legislature calling a special session to address this?
from page 262-263 said:> "Treatment of Certain Devices Determined by Reference to National Firearms Act"
Section 5841 is amended by adding:
"(f) Requirements for short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and other weapons...
> In the case of any registration or licensing requirement under State or local law with respect to [NFA items]...
any person who acquires or possesses such [items] in accordance with Chapter 44 of Title 18 (aka the Gun Control Act)
shall be treated as meeting any such registration or licensing requirement..."
So whats the timeline here? What are the odds of all this actually being passed? I feel like they'll remove it at the end before it goes in to be passed.

The odds? 100% it will be passed with the HPA and SHORT acts if we keep the pressure on our officials.
