Having been knighted on this site as an honorary Fudd, I believe I can speak to this. My dad's generation definitely thought the Weatherby Mark V was the business. I'd argue Browning has taken the mantle today as far as brands go. I love Winchester bolts actions and CZ crf bolt actions but they're not as available anymore. My interest in the Model 700 footprint is the huge amount of aftermarket products available. Weatherby is even going to sell these actions by themselves and the MSRP looks like a bargain potentially for those wanting to assemble a rifle.I thought weatherby controlled the fuddiverse in bolt guns. Well, close call between weatherby (fudds with $) and Salvage (poor fudds).
