Well, looks like I'm still allergic to mammal meat!

Dang, this would cut out a lot of the normal person's diet with just mammal meat. I would hate to thing how hard removing all dairy would be. Stay safe and keep reading labels.

I didn't know that was something you could get from a tick bite. Sorry to hear it. Hopefully your numbers will be back to normal soon. I guess we know what you're doing the day you have good test results.

I was diagnosed with the alpha gal allergy in early 2014.

It's an allergy triggered by a bite from the Lone Star tick. It causes extreme allergic reactions to the alpha gal carbohydrate in mammal meat.

It can be diagnosed with a simple blood test that will give you a number. The higher the number, the more prone you'll be to the allergic reaction.

When I was diagnosed in 2014 my number was 9.5

When I was tested last week my number was 3.4

Anything over 0.35 is considered positive for the allergy.

So it looks like I'm still allergic, but my number is going down. I'll be tested again in a year and see if it continues to go down.

All you guys be sure to wear insect repellent when you're in the woods, because you this allergy sucks (no pun intended) and Epi-Pens are expensive as hell!
I've had some allergy issues myself over the years and although this might come across as some kind of voodoo, I've seen it in person and it really does work on all kinds of normal and also some really strange allergies.

Somewhat off subject but how much should an allergy test cost?
I honestly don't remember what it cost when I originally went back in 2014 and had the full battery of allergy tests run to figure out what was going on with me.

At this point they know what my allergy is so they just do a blood test to check the numbers for my specific allergy.

My trip last week cost me $80 at the allergist and another $15 at the lab to have the blood work done. That's with insurance though. I don't know what it would've been without insurance.
