I haven't seen a thread on here like this. The thought is to give reviews/recommendations of books you have read, new books out that look interesting, etc...
I figured the Media forum was the best place.

Please start another topic to debate issues in the books so that this thread remains a resource to those looking for something good to read.

I'll start.

FYI, I do most of my "reading" in audiobook form these days. Sometimes it makes books better and sometimes an utter failure (World War Z - only had abridged version available and does not do the book justice) I will try to make note of that when it has an affect.

Ayn Rand - The Fountainhead "individualism vs. collectivism, not in politics but in men's souls." While Atlas Shrugged gets a lot of play, I enjoyed this much more. If you hate liberals, you'll love this book!

Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged the classic Capitalism story - Very long, kind of drags on in spots. I felt after all this long detailed setup the ending was pretty anti-climatic... I kept looking for the actual last chapter. I love the principles though. Can't wait for the movie ;)

Schweikart/Allen - A Patriot's History of the United States: From Columbus's Great Discovery to the War on Terror A great book! Should be required reading for every high school student! What a great refresher on American History without all the leftist slant. The narrator is even keeled through most of the book but towards the end it's almost like you can hear a strong conservative undertone. Not an issue for me but, if you're trying to convert your Lefty friends something to look out for ;)

out of time - I'll add more later...

Everyone. Please do not overwhelm the server with all your postings at once ;)

Vince Flynn - American Assassin Good black ops spy book. Pretty detailed and graphic. kept me interested. Actually until I looked it up for this post I had no idea that this was a pre-quel to other books out there. This was my first Vince Flynn book. Now I'll have to pick up the other books in the series. Apparently they are making a movie as well.

Found this if interested in starting to read the series...

I've read them all ... All are good reads!

Anything written by David Baldacci is also very good

Recently read "Water for Elephants". I know the movie is out now, but the book was a very good read. Have not started anything new, but I have been looking.

Nothing really philosophical (unless you dwell on the injustice of our justice system) but for pure entertainment those of you who like John Grisham will like The Lincoln Lawyer.

The movie followed the book very closely, and I thought was well done.
If you liked the book, the sequel is Reversal and quite good as well.

Actually, I like most Michael Connelly books ... I've read most of them!
